ADIPS - Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme - inspection scheme for fairground mechanical devices producing DOCS


ADSC - The Amusement Device Safety Council


AIMODS - Association of Inflatable Manufacturers, Operators, Designers and Suppliers - Industry Trade Association


API - Association of Play Industries - Trade body representing those involved in indoor and outdoor play equipment


BALPPA - The British Association of Leisure Parks Piers and Attractions - Trade Association representing owners, managers, suppliers and developers in the UK’s commercial leisure parks, piers, zoos and static attractions


CRB - Criminal Records Bureau -  Disclosure Certificate required by many organisations now if you work with children. In 2013 this has now changed to DBS - Disclosure and Barring Service


ELI - Employers Liability Insurance - Legal requirement if you employ or use staff


FESS - Fairground Equipment Safety Scheme - New scheme being set up as an alternative to ADIPS


FJAC - The Fairgrounds Joint Advisory Council


FSB - Federation of Small Businesses - Trade Association


HSE - Health and Safety Executive - This is the organisation that you will be most likely to encounter in the case of accidents on inflatable play equipment. They are responsible for enforcing the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.


ILAM - Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management - Professional body representing leisure managers

NFAN - National Farm Attractions Network - Trade Association for farm attractions


NAIH - National Association of Inflatable Hirers - Industry Trade Association


PAT Test - Portable Appliance Test - Required for your fans and electrical cables


PIPA -  Pertexa Inflatable Play Accreditation - Scheme allows operators to have their equipment tested to comply with BS EN14960


PLI - Public Liability Insurance - A must for operators


PPA - Play Providers Association - Trade Association for those involved in indoor play centres.


PUWER - Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 - These are the regulations are used for those not having annual test.


RIDDOR - Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations


RoSPA - The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents - Charity promoting accident prevention


RPII- Register of Play Inspectors International - Organisation responsible for the training of inspectors to BS EN 14960. (as used for PIPA scheme).
